Why Farming?

  • Farmland values have out-performed all other non-residential asset classes over the last four decades.
  • This performance differential is expected to increase over the coming years, agricultural farmland is a diminishing and irreplaceable resource in an arena of increasing demand.
  • Of the world's 2 principle defensive hedges, farmland and gold, farmland has the added benefit of offering an income stream and lifestyle benefits.
  • Worldwide productive farmland is reducing in area due to climate change and competing requirements.
  • Demand for wheat-based produce is reaching record levels and the land once used to grow wheat is being threatened by the demand for biofuel crops.
  • Government subsidised energy crops for producing power and fuel are competing for land putting further upward pressure on values.

Why Forestry?

  • The trend over the last decade has been for significantly fewer acres to become available on the open market, as farmers and investors recognise the long-term value of holding onto their land.
  • In Britain we import 85% of our timber requirements and as demand grows for home produced timber for energy production, values are certain to harden.
  • Forestry offers constant and consistent organic growth, together with income and capital gains entirely free of tax.
